Blog 4: Introducing our Resource Hub - offering access to free education and peace of mind
Aaron and I always dreamed of setting up on our own one day, to live and work in a world that we design. Whilst we have achieved that and love what we do, we wanted to create a business which extended past the day job. From personal experience, we recognise how stressful buying and selling property can be. And when you finally get the keys and move in to find a defect that you weren’t expecting can be heartbreaking. Hands up who’s been there? We have.
We appreciate surveys can be expensive but they offer invaluable peace of mind on probably the largest purchase you may ever make. We strongly believe that everyone should have equal access to information and with this in mind, we created our Resource Hub. We also hope that investors, property developers, and estate agents may also benefit from this service. Our Resource Hub is a place where anyone can access free information, with three primary services:
Guidance Notes Mini Series
We have written and published a series of Guidance Notes which are free to download. These include information on why surveys are so important, the different levels of survey, and the top defects to look out for. We hope that this information is helpful, however if there is anything that you think we have missed, we will be adding more to this series in the coming months, so please get in touch and we may be able to include your suggestions. Please be reminded that we would always recommend a survey before you purchase a property. If you’re not sure what level you need, please get in touch and we would be happy to offer free advice.
A place where you can source information relating to your property. We hope that uSource offers a one stop shop of useful information. We have provided links to sites relating to flood zones, radon, EPC ratings, crime, and historical information among others. We also provide information relating to planning, conservation areas, and Tree Protection Orders (TPOs). Whilst your surveyor and solicitor should be looking at this information as part of their respective searches, knowing this information up front can be really helpful.
Property Advice Service
Our Property Advice Service has been designed with you in mind. If you have already moved into the property, or have noticed a potential defect in your current home, our Property Advice Service may be able to help. This offers an affordable way to engage in remote correspondence with a Chartered Surveyor about a potential defect. You can submit photographs, videos, and a description of the defect, and a Chartered Surveyor will review the information and be in touch. Where an on site inspection is required, the fee already paid will be deducted from the cost of the survey. We will also be able to provide advice on remedial action and make referrals to local trusted professionals as required.
We hope that the introduction of our Resource Hub is useful, and offers greater peace of mind about your current, or future home.
